Library Specific Services
Library Needs Assessment and Facility Planning
Using
national standards, growth projections and library comparisons,
The Breton Group works with library board and staff and key community
members to plan library facilities that will meet current and future
needs. In addition to estimating square footage to match service
needs, we also guide the development of an appropriate funding plan
for the new or expanded library.
Feasibility Study
Testing
a plan in the community can lead to a more focused and successful
fundraising effort. Involving key community members and obtaining
their input prior to launching a campaign can help spot potential
obstacles, predict financial support and identify campaign leaders.
The Breton Group helps develop a realistic and compelling case for
support, conducts one-on-one interviews with individuals key to
the project and recommends specific steps to create a clear path
to campaign success.
Capital Campaign
Raising
significant philanthropic dollars for new facilities, debt retirement,
endowment funds and other major projects requires strong leadership
and a sound organizational plan that appropriately reflects the
nonprofit’s culture. The Breton Group guides campaigns from recruiting
leadership, to developing effective communications strategies, to
training volunteers to make solicitation calls.
Millage/Bond Vote Awareness
Many
library projects require new or increased taxes
as part of their funding plans. Successful millage elections depend in part
on educating the electorate regarding the need for a new or expanded facility. The Breton Group guides the development
of effective information strategies to inform citizens about the library, its services, resources and programs and its contribution to the community as a whole. Citizens who appreciate the value of a a new/expanded library will be better motivated to vote "yes."
